Welcome to my latest blog post, where I share my recent adventure in the iRacing Porsche Cup at Road Atlanta in the Open Series. This race was quite an experience, and there’s a humorous twist: I had car number 1, meaning I had the highest iRating in the field. However, that advantage didn’t translate into a top starting position as I began the race in 14th place and finished 11th.
Throughout the race, I encountered three incidents, all due to track violations. Despite these setbacks, I focused on driving a clean race, which was my primary goal. This effort paid off as I gained a safety rating of 0.11, although I lost 11 iRating points.
The race was driven on my D-Box full-motion, super-immersive simulator equipped with a 57-inch monitor and high-end components. You can check out my complete setup on my website, pgeppl.at. This week, I had no motivation to train due to the extreme heat in Villach and the absence of air conditioning in my apartment. My simulator is located in the living room, and it was simply too hot to practice, which resulted in slower lap times. Nevertheless, I’m not making excuses, as I know I’m not the fastest driver. However, I thoroughly enjoy racing, and this event was no exception. It was fantastic, especially since the other drivers were respectful and clean, with no rowdy behavior.
I hope you enjoyed reading about this race. I participate in races weekly and regularly update my blog with new posts. I’m hoping for cooler temperatures next week, although it’s summer, which is great but not ideal for my practice motivation. We’ll see how it goes.
Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday! See you on the track. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, hit the bell, and leave a comment on my YouTube channel. I appreciate any feedback. Ciao!
