Intense Porsche Cup Race at Red Bull Ring | iRacing Fixed Class Drama
Welcome to My Latest iRacing Adventure!
Hey everyone,
I’m excited to share my latest racing experience in iRacing, where I took part in the Porsche Cup Series at the Red Bull Ring – my home track! This race was in the Fixed class, meaning everyone had the same setup and couldn’t change anything except the brake balance. The Strength of Field was a whopping 3441, making it a challenging and thrilling race.
Race Highlights:
- Starting Position: 16th place
- Finishing Position: 11th place
- Incident Points: 4
- Car Number: 18
Race Recap:
The start of the race was a bit of a disaster for me. There was a crash right in front of me before the first turn, forcing me to brake hard and nearly dropping me to the last position. Thankfully, I wasn’t completely last but close enough! Despite the rough start, the race was filled with intense battles and tight racing. At one point, I had to avoid another crash in a turn, which luckily didn’t result in any contact.
I absolutely love iRacing, but I have to say, the incident system and the time penalty system can be quite frustrating. While the driving physics and overall system are the best I’ve ever experienced, the incident points and time penalties definitely need some reworking.
My Setup:
For those interested in the tech side of things, here’s what I was using during the race:
- Simulator: D-Box Full Motion Simulator
- Display: 57-inch integrated display
- Wheelbase: Simucube 2 Ultimate
- Steering Wheel: Precision Sim Engineering Porsche Cup Replica
- Seat: Sparco with a 5-point harness
- Pedals: Simtag Ashley hydraulic pedals
The setup feels incredibly realistic, and I thoroughly enjoy the immersive experience it provides.
Looking Ahead:
I hope you enjoyed the race as much as I did. The battles were heated and the race was thrilling, especially in the height of summer. I’m already looking forward to the next race and can’t wait to share it with you all.
