Challenging Race in the McLaren 720S GT3 EVO at Monza – A Tough Learning Experience
In my latest iRacing race, I drove the McLaren 720S GT3 EVO at the legendary Autodromo Nazionale Monza. The Strength of Field (SoF) was 2494, and unfortunately, I lost 19 iRating and 0.11 Safety Rating. I started 13th on the grid and finished 16th.
The race didn’t start well. I accidentally made contact with Patrick Reich. I truly apologize for this—there was no intention to cause a crash. I was focusing on my braking marker to the left and didn’t notice that you braked much earlier than expected, leading me to hit your rear left. Again, I’m really sorry for that.
In lap 3, I had another car contact that spun me out. I had to let the entire field pass before I could rejoin the race. I found myself near the back but managed to fight my way back to finish 16th.
This was only my second race in the McLaren, and I realize there’s still a lot to learn. I keep making the same mistakes, as I did in the Porsche Cup, where my driving errors end up affecting others as well. However, the experience on my full-motion D-Box simulator was incredible. Everything feels so real—I absolutely love it!
I’m hopeful for a better result in the next race. Feel free to check out the race, and hopefully, you’ll enjoy it despite the setbacks. Have fun watching!
