All decibel readings on this site were captured with an iPhone 13 Pro Max running the Decibel X app. The phone was positioned exactly 10 cm from the centre of the steering wheel, microphone pointing at the wheel. Values represent the maximum reading recorded during each test.
Methodology per action
- Shifter — multiple paddle shifts; the loudest single hit is logged.
- Buttons — every button on the wheel is pressed; the loudest single press is logged.
- Rotaries — each encoder is rotated individually; the loudest click is logged.
The point isn’t lab-grade precision — it’s apples-to-apples comparison across wheels recorded under identical conditions. If you race in a shared living space, this is the data that tells you whether you’ll wake the household.
