🌧️ First race back after 6 months – and it rained. A lot. 😅
What a way to return to the grid at Suzuka in the Porsche Cup! Driving Car #2, I started from P5 and… let’s say the rain had other plans. I crossed the line in P13. 8 incidents, -0.20 Safety Rating, -14 iRating, Strength of Field of 2,090 – not exactly the comeback story I had in mind. But hey, at least it was memorable!
Why so chaotic? Well, first of all: this was my first race in the new Porsche Cup – a car I had never driven before. Second: it was a full rain race at Suzuka. Third: I hadn’t raced in 6 months. So naturally, I combined all three into one glorious disaster. 😂
Got spun out twice – once on my own, once with some “help” from another car – and yes, I may have gently introduced myself to someone in the hairpin at the end. They did not enjoy it. Sorry about that. 👀
The visibility was just non-existent. One second behind another car and you’re essentially driving blind through a wall of spray. Tricky doesn’t even begin to cover it.
But here’s the thing: I loved every second of it. Sim racing is my hobby, my passion – and I’m back weekly. Because even a P13 in the rain beats sitting on the couch any day.
All of this on my full D-BOX Full Motion Simulator, Simucube 2 Ultimate, VPG Porsche Cup replica wheel, Cubic Systems BT-1 belt tensioners, 57″ monitor, and Simucube Active Pedal Ultimates. The equipment is definitely not the problem. 😅
If you enjoyed it, leave a like or comment on YouTube – and I’ll see you on the next grid, hopefully in the dry! 🏎️💨
