Turn 1 Chaos at Sebring
Today was supposed to be a celebration—exactly one year since I hit 1,000 followers on YouTube. That milestone marked the start of my monetization journey, and while I only earn €15–25 per month from my channel, it’s never been about the money. It’s about sharing my passion for sim racing and connecting with all of you.
But let’s talk about the race. It was the Simucube GT Sprint Series at Sebring, with a massive Strength of Field of 3621. I was car #28, starting 26th after setting my fastest qualifying lap of the week (under 2:01—finally!). Everything was lining up for an exciting race… until Turn 1.
A car spun out right in front of me, leaving me with no chance to avoid it. I collided head-on, breaking my front-right axle. The damage forced me to spend 7–8 minutes in the pits, but the chaos didn’t end there. I accidentally hit the pit limiter while exiting, earning a 40-second penalty. By the time I was back on track, I was 4–5 laps down.
Still, I decided to finish the race, even though the result—24th place—was far from what I hoped for. My Safety Rating took a -0.12 hit, and I lost 20 iRating, with 5 incident points to my name.
Despite the setback, racing on Sebring in my D-Box full-motion simulator is always an experience. The track’s famous bumps make the immersion incredible, and my 57-inch monitor setup never fails to deliver that “real-life” feel. Moments like these remind me why I love this hobby, even on tough days.
So, while the race didn’t go as planned, I’m still grateful for this anniversary. One year of monetization, countless hours of racing, and an amazing community that supports me through it all. Here’s to more races, more milestones, and hopefully, better luck next time!
