GT Sprint Simucube Series – Strategic Brilliance and Intense Battles at Fuji
My latest race in the GT Sprint Simucube Series took place on the iconic Fuji International Speedway, and what a race it was! Driving the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, I started from P10 in a field of 24 and brought it home in P10. The highlight? 0 incident points! A clean race that earned me +0.22 Safety Rating and +21 iRating.
Fuji is always a thrilling challenge. The track’s unique layout, with its long main straight leading into a tight hairpin, keeps the field tightly packed. This race was no different – constant pressure from behind and relentless chasing ahead. I gained 4 positions but the real highlight was an incredible battle with Stefan Frank, who was glued to my rear bumper for most of the race.
What I didn’t realize at the time was that Stefan was playing the long game. Using my slipstream to save fuel, he managed to stay out two laps longer during the pit window, pulling off a textbook overcut strategy. When I exited the pits, he had jumped me – a masterclass in race tactics. Huge respect to Stefan for his smart, calculated approach. It’s a strategy I hope to try myself someday.
As always, the race felt unbelievably immersive, thanks to my D-Box Full Motion Simulator with its 57-inch display, replica wheel, and hydraulic pedals. I’m also looking forward to trying out the Simucube Active Pedals soon – fingers crossed for a Black Friday deal! These pedals promise an even more realistic racing experience, and I’m excited to see if they’ll help shave some time off my laps.
