🏎️ Back on Track – iRacing Porsche Cup Fixed @ Road America
My Comeback After 6 Months Away
After more than half a year away from racing, I finally returned to the iRacing Porsche Cup Fixed. My last official race was on February 16th, and on August 24th I made my comeback at Road America.
A Wet Surprise in the Porsche Cup
I always assumed Porsche Cup Fixed meant dry racing only. But when I joined the server, the track was already “slightly wet” – which to me felt completely soaked. Qualifying was a struggle, and I couldn’t set a clean lap. That left me with a choice: start on wet tires or gamble on slicks?
Since I was starting only P13 out of 23 drivers, I went with slicks, hoping the track would dry quickly. Within just a few laps, the racing line cleared up and the real race began.
Climbing from P13 to the Podium
Step by step, I fought my way forward. In Lap 9, I made a small mistake under braking uphill to the left, lost a couple of spots, but recovered quickly. In the end, I crossed the line in P3 – a podium finish!

Next-Level Immersion
What made this race even more special was the feeling in my upgraded sim rig. Alongside my D-BOX full motion system, I now also use the Cubic Systems BT-1 belt tensioner. The way the harness tightens under braking and presses you into the seat is simply incredible – pure racing immersion.
Conclusion: More Than Just a Podium
This wasn’t only about the result – it was about the joy of being back. After 6 months away, finishing on the podium at Road America felt like the perfect comeback. My goal is to get back into a weekly racing rhythm, because sim racing is my true passion – and it feels amazing to be back.
